Civic Values

Civic Values are the values we learn to respect as citizens, as set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble to the Constitution. All people are created equal. We're endowed with inalienable rights--life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our government was created to "establish justice, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." In the midst of our national debate over values, many of us have forgotten that these civic values are the values we're supposed to share. That's what this weblog is all about.
